There are some clever ideas in the A3 and some that are not so clever. Among the smarter ideas: 12-volt auxiliary socket in the rear cargo compartment; multi-use fold-down armrest and storage shelf in the 60/40 fold-down rear seat; automatic up/down on all four windows (and the rear ones go all the way down! Thanks, Audi.) Not so clever: the doors have three-position opening detentes that are very stiff. These are the stops the doors make as they're being opened, so they stay open while you get in or out. Trouble is they're too stiff. And when you go to open a door, if you don't hold it firmly, it will spring back to its closed position. Redesign, please?
